  1. Chapters 1-2 Reflection
    1) This person is someone who stands up for yourself. what ever she says she always backs herself up. For example she got called fat and she said "no I'm not fat." This person is a wonderful person and always has your back along with her own.
    2) I think everyone need a friend like this because its a good feeling to know that someone is by you even if you are wrong

    1. Good thoughts, Alaina. Do you have many friends like this, or are they rare? Try to provide a little more detail and specifics to support your opinions, however.

  2. Chapters 1-2 Reflection
1.) The friend that I know who is unafraid to stand up for herself, is a friend that I just met recently in the passed year. She is the most independent person I know with the highest self esteem. She is very open to her story before her self esteem skyrocketed. When she was in her Junior High days, she considered herself overweight, too short, ugly, and not good enough for anyone. Her wrists still have scars from the self-damage she did. She told me that she got to a point in her life where she came to the realization she was just making herself out to be a victim of her own mind and the thoughts of others, so she decided to quit victimizing herself and step up to do something about herself. For months, she worked our to lose weight, which helped with her complexion and even helped her grow. With all the weight she lost, she became so comfortably with her body that if anyone tried to torment her with her weight, she would throw their words aside and hold her head up high. She is a true inspiration to anyone.
2.) It is beyond extremely important to have that one friend who stays by your side and sticks up for you at all costs because if you don't have at least one person like that, how are you ever going to take on the world? The world is a large reality that can crush you in a blink of an I. It can't be taken on alone, so yes, everyone does need that someone in their life to help them take on the world by the horns.

  5. Chapter 13 Reflection
Eric Calhoune is a very friendly, nice, outgoing person. But he is also just like every other high school student, if you make him angry he will not like you. His mother is a very nice and friendly person too. She is where Eric gets it from. At first Eric is not very popular but once he started to loose weight he became more popular.

Sarah Byrnes always speaks the truth. That can sometimes be a bad thing. Her dad put her through things that no little girl ever should ever have to go through. He did this so often that she became a very tough little girl. When she was younger she got burned and now has scars all over her face.

Steve Ellerby makes fun of Christians by driving a Christian cruiser that blasts Christian music. He is also a very good swimmer.

Mark Brittain is a huge Christian. He goes to church every Sunday because his dad is the pastor. His siblings are Matthew Luke John and a sister Mary.

  6. Chapter 13 Reflection:

Eric (Moby) Calhoune: Eric, in my opinion is an extremely exemplary person of optimism. Even though he was bigger than most and considered an outcast, he still seemed to always be able to point out the needle of light through the darkness. He is very smart, considerate, passionate, and an all around amazing friend/ person especially to Sarah Byrnes. Yes, he did have certain people such as Mark Brittain which he wasn't fond of, but Mobe always ended up realizing the real person behind the mask. In Mark Brittain's instance, Mobe realized his motive behind his actions and beliefs, and he realized that in reality, Mark was trapped behind the controls of his father.

Sarah Byrnes: Sarah Byrnes is really something else. Sarah Byrnes is smart, quick witted, strong, independent, aggressive and definitely not someone I'd want to be on their bad side, but through all that, I have also learned, Sarah is fragile, sad, and feels completely trapped behind her disfiguration. Sarah is a person that instead of victimizing herself after the incident with her father, she steps up as a survivor, and the only way to do that, was to build up these walls of aggressiveness, independency, mean, and sometimes just a down-right B word. I truly admire her triumph on life. She is a person that takes the lemons life hands her and just squirts them in life's eye.

Steve Ellerby: Steve Ellerby is an interesting character. I really don't have much to say about him other than the fact that he is almost like the median in every situation that comes up. I would almost compare him to a "designated driver." But he is also a hypocritical tyrant: driving around his Christian Cruiser to make fun of Christians when his father is a part of the church.

Mark Brittain: Mark Brittain is a Christian with the bible written on his head. At least, that's what everyone, including Mark himself, thinks. He is very close minded to anything and everything that goes against what he believes, but I give him kudos because even when a whole group of people turns against him, he still stands up for his beliefs and doesn't back down. It's a very admirable aspect of him. But, I believe that the reason he is the way he is, is because his father brainwashed him from the beginning that there is ONLY one right belief, everyone else was wrong. I believe that's what had him so close minded.
